The magic of Google mapping: Geocoding Google Spreadsheet
We have in our imaginary placing pins on the maps when we wanted to identify countries, towns or streets. This was the beginnings of Geocoding. The intention in this practice session is to show the potential of geocoding tools from a Google Spreadsheet where, with a simple address list, we automatically calculate distances, travel times between two points (school and student’s address, for example) and respective geographic coordinates. Finally, there is the possibility to do a dynamic mapping of SpreadSheet through the tools available on Google My Map, creating a thematic map to show the pins in the Google maps.

Google, a world within the World!
The Google World is huge. So huge and versatile that there's no need to leave it to carry out any task imaginable on the Internet. In my presentation I will refer to a small part of this "immense world" while showing the extent to which Google is embedded in my daily life simplifying personal work, group work and communication, not only academically as an educator, but also as a member of an extensive network of colleagues worldwide. I will highlight a relevant task from my experience as an EFL educator as well as the importance of my having adopted Google as part of an online professional development workshop I co-coordinated for 10 years. Finally, I will show some of the apps I currently use when working with my online professional groups.
Hopefully, my presentation will clearly reflect the way Google users can also benefit from adopting Google Apps to maximize communication, collaboration and sharing with students and peers.
